

In loving memory of Leland Michael Asevedo, a devoted spouse, father, and avid carpenter. He was the loving spouse to Anita Hays for 17 wonderful years. Caring father to Shannon Asevedo Pennino (John), Christian Calandra Ramirez (Pablo), Preston Asevedo, Damian Asevedo and Justen Asevedo; grandfather to Kalyn Asevedo Williams, Casey Melerine Lavergne, Ashlyn Asevedo, Zoe Bauer, Noah Bauer, Hayden Bauer, Samantha Melerine, Julian Ramirez, Joslyn Ramirez, and Jason Ramirez; great-grandfather to Paxton Williams (Kalyn), Marlon Geisendorff (Zoe), and Prescott Williams (Kalyn). Proud brother of Donne Macnab, Leann Asevedo Poirier, Rodney Asevedo, and Jerod Asevedo.; uncle too many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents Robert Asevedo and Adele Billiot Asevedo; his siblings, Dianne Bennett, Robert (Bobby) Asevedo, and Aaron Asevedo.
Born on March 24, 1952, in New Orleans, LA, Leland built a legacy of love and connection with those whom he came in contact with. Leland enjoyed horseback riding. He had a passion for nurturing his garden, he found solace and joy in the soil beneath his fingertips. Whether he was casting a line into the waters or watching his family flourish, his heart was always outdoors, embracing the beauty of nature. Leland adored his grandchildren, finding joy in their laughter and milestones. A twinkle in his eye ignited whenever he ventured to the casino, a placed where he embraced life’s excitement and chances. His legacy will forever live on through the vibrant blooms he cultivated, and the cherished memories shared with his loved ones.
He leaves behind a garden of love and an imprint on the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation to be held at ST. BERNARD MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA on Monday, August 21, 2023, from 9:00 AM- 11:00 AM. A funeral service will begin at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow in ST. BERNARD MEMORIAL GARDENS.
