On Saturday, April 29, 2023, the monarch of our family, passed away. Lois Verges Cantrell left this earth and all of her cherished family 25 days shy of her 96th birthday. Born to Pauline E. Ricks Verges Meyer and Robert Verges, Lois married Clarence “Buddy” Cantrell, Jr. on October 1, 1947, and together they raised three daughters, unique in their own special ways – Cynthia Englande, the late Cheryl Marques, and Caryl McDaniel. Mom’s sons-in-law, Cliff and Gary, always kept her on her toes - they loved to tease her. She said she was blessed.
Lois was so proud of her six grandsons, and equally as proud of their wives; Chip and Wendy Englande, Chris and Robyn Marques, Clay and Angie Marques, Chad and Michelle Marques, Dr. G. Stephen and Missy McDaniel, and Kenneth and Brittney McDaniel.
GeGe Lady Bug had 11 great-grandchildren; Zackory, Josh (Hannah), Gregg, Aimee (Josh), Noah (Brindley), Caden, Paris, Trey, Landon, Drew, and Madison. Her great-great-grandchildren, Zayah Rae Englande, Coby James Englande, and Grey Michael Englande, always made her smile in whatever they did. She loved them to the moon and back.
Lois also had a great adopted family; Mary Ann, Erin, Chasity, Courtney, Sam, Sawyer, Linda, Cindy S., her casino buddies, Regina and Albert, and let’s not forget her partner in crime for the past 5 years, Bonnie Runnels, in addition to too many more to mention, but they are all dearly loved Maw Maw also loved her fur babies; Tebow, Boo, and Tyson.
Lois touched so many lives in a good way with her kind, caring heart, until it could not give any more. She will be truly missed and greatly remembered by all who had the honor of knowing her.
