Nicholas "Mr. Nick" Joseph Cuccia, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully at the age of 82. A lifelong resident of St. Bernard Parish, he was a man defined by his unwavering dedication to his family, community, and hard work. He is survived by his beloved wife, Greer Madona Cuccia; his daughter, Nicole Cuccia Miller; his grandchildren, Taylor Michael Cuccia and Dillian Joseph Miller; and his great-grandchildren, Kohl Loyal Cuccia, Kaizer Nicholas Cuccia, Kalen Robert Cuccia, and Klayton Anthony Cuccia. Also survived by his sister, Laura Lea Gilchrist. Nicholas is preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Bessie Patranella Cuccia, and his brother, Frank Paul Cuccia.
In 1967, Nicholas married the love of his life, Greer Madona Cuccia, whom he shared a beautiful life with and raised their beloved daughter. A proud graduate of Our Lady of Prompt Succor School and Chalmette High School, Nicholas carried his roots with pride throughout his entire life. Nicholas served his community with honor for over three decades as a dedicated member of the St. Bernard Parish Sheriff's Office, protecting and serving for more than 35 years. His professional journey also included time with Boh Bros Construction Co., L.L.C., and as the founder and owner of Nick J. Cuccia General Contractor Inc., where he brought dedication, skill, and care to every project he touched. Nicholas was also a valued board member of the St. Bernard Council on Aging, where his compassion for others continued to shine in his later years. He had a deep passion for the outdoors and found joy in shrimping, fishing, hunting, gardening, and watching boats travel the Mississippi River. Known for his hands-on spirit, he loved fixing things, baking, cooking, taking daily rides, and being surrounded by nature. He was the kind of man who never hesitated to lend a helping hand—generous, capable, and one of a kind. Above all, Nicholas will be remembered for his warm heart, steady presence, and the legacy of love he leaves behind with his family and friends. He touched many lives and will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
