It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Paul Alexis Sr., a loving father, grandfather, brother, and uncle, on Friday, February 7, 2025, at the age of 61. He is survived by his son, Paul Alexis Jr.; his grandchildren, Hayven Alexis and Devin Alexis; his sisters, Cheryl Alexis Trahan (Joe) and Lisa Alexis Jackson (Lee); his beloved dog, Punkin; and a host of extended family and friends who loved him dearly. Paul is preceded in death by his wife, Lilly Alexis; his parents, Harold and Isabel Alexis; his sister, Debra Lee Alexis.
Paul was born in New Orleans, and grew up in, and was a lifetime resident of, Chalmette, Louisiana. He graduated from Holy Cross High School in 1981. Paul was a very good man, and was known to be a great help to others after Hurricane Katrina devastated St. Bernard Parish. Paul was a patriot and loved his country, he very much enjoyed following politics and current events. Smart, kind, empathetic, quiet, and contemplative, he also had a keen sense of humor, and though he was a man of few words, he had many words of wisdom to share. Paul so loved his late wife, Lily, and was devoted and dedicated to her as he lovingly cared for her for many years as she struggled with her health. After they lost their home to hurricane Katrina in 2005, he and Lily renovated the home his parents built before he was born, doing much of the work with his own hands. It was the home he and his sisters were raised in, and carried many happy memories of growing up there under the loving care of their parents. Both Paul and Lily lived out their lives in that home, making many happy memories of their own. In his work, Paul was dedicated, loved and respected by his co-workers and those with whom he interacted in his position with NAPA; his work brought him a sense of fulfillment and purpose. Living for many years as a widower, he loved his dog, Punkin, dearly, and had a special bond with her; indeed, she brought him companionship, comfort and joy. Paul deeply loved his son and grandchildren, and cherished time spent with them. Above all, Paul was a man of faith. He loved God, finding peace and strength in his spiritual belief and faith. He leaves behind a legacy of love, loyalty, and devotion. Though he will be deeply missed especially by his family but also by all who knew him, Paul’s spirit will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and everyone whose life he touched.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial gathering to be held at ST. BERNARD MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 701 W. VIRTUE ST., Chalmette, LA on March 14, 2025, from 11:00am to 1:00pm.
