Peggy Arcement Schifano

Peggy Joyce Marie Arcement Schifano, age 68, of Poydras, Louisiana passed away on Tuesday, June 28, 2022. Peggy was born on January 6, 1954. She is preceded in death by her parents, the late Joseph Peter Arcement and Edith Ory Arcement, along with her brothers, Jerry Joseph Arcement, Larry Gilbert Arcement, and Carroll Anthony Arcement, Sr.

She is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, Sidney Joseph Schifano III, children, Belinda Crawford Ducote (Raymond) and Sidney “Chip” Joseph Schifano IV (Alesha), Mother-in-law, Katherine Gulotta Schifano (Sidney Jr.), grandchildren, R.J. Ducote, Kelsey Schifano, Bryce Ducote, Gabrielle Ducote, Sydneigh Schifano, and Leighton Schifano, and great-grandsons, Jay Ducote and Ryder Ducote, “Sistas”, Debbie Lapeyrouse, Donna DeBlonde, Dianne Dauterive, Dawn Arceneaux and Dana Ricca, Godchildren, Holly Arcement and Derek Arceneaux as well as many other nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

Peggy was a lifelong and active member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Violet, where she served her Lord and Savior in numerous roles that included but were not limited to Lector, Eucharistic Minister, Oyster Festival Chair, Church Planning Commission, Ladies Auxillary, The Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults, Angel Giving Tree, etc. She was a recipient of the St. Louis Medallion for her dedication to the Archdiocese of New Orleans. Her greatest joys were her husband, kids, grandkids and great grandkids. Any time spent with them was precious to her. Seeing her family have fun and succeed meant the world to her. Spending time with family, hosting Christmas dinner, travelling and shopping were what she enjoyed most. Sista week in Destin and Arcement Christmas were always a topic of discussion and many laughs for her.

A Visitation for Peggy will be held Saturday, July 2, 2022, from 9:30 AM to 12:00 PM at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 2621 Colonial Blvd, Violet, LA 70092. A Funeral Mass will begin at 12:00 PM. She will be laid to rest in St. Bernard Catholic Cemetery, 2805 Bayou Road, St. Bernard, LA 70085.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in her honor to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
