Peter was born on May 5, 1962. He was a free spirit who always just went with the flow of everything. He grew up racing down the streets of Arabi, enjoying the speed of his car ,the freedom of the wind , and the sound his own laughter. But he always slowed down to make friends along the way, and he made many. He had many different jobs during his life, including working at Schwegman's, at a drive-in, as a police officer, and his favorite, as a dispatcher and guard for Metro Security for over 20 years. He also had a few different nicknames including Pete, Pedro, and to those dearest to him, Bubba. He lived in St. Bernard all of his life until Hurricane Katrina. After that he called Mississippi home and for the past four years, Lafayette Louisiana. Peter’s kindness and love flowed from him like the light from the sun. He could find the good in anybody and any situation. He was the kind of person who really, truly touched the lives of everyone he met, and will never be forgotten. He could always be found humming a song by his beloved Stevie Nicks and you could rest assured that he would greet you with a " Hey Girl!", and never forget to tell you he loved you. He also suffered from ankylosing spondylitis, a rare disease that left him unable to turn his head and in debilitating pain. But he rarely ever showed it. He would always smile and just say " I'll live". Peter Vaccaro will be sorely missed.
The world is darker without him. He is so loved.
