Raymond Jacob Lala passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 19, 2015 at the age of 81. He was the beloved son of the late Anthony and Mamie Carollo Lala. Brother of Victor Lala and the late Marie L. Castillon, Dominick Lala and Anthony Lala. He is also survived and fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, dear friends, especially his caregivers Mamie Ann Lala and Darnell Grose. Raymond was a native and resident of New Orleans, LA for 73 years and a resident of Slidell, LA since Hurricane Katrina. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Nation Guard who proudly served his country as a PFC; 141st Field Artillery Battalion, Battery A, stationed at Jackson Barracks for 8 years. Following his military service, he enjoyed a long career as a Bellman for the Royal Orleans for over 30 years. He will be deeply missed by his family and by all those whose lives he touched. Relatives and friends are invited to attend an evening visitation to be held at ST. BERNARD MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA on Friday, May 22nd from 6:00PM – 9:00PM and again on Saturday morning from 10:00AM – 1:00PM. He will be laid to rest in St. Vincent de Paul Cemetery No. 3 on Tuesday, May 26th at 11:00AM.
