Richard Joseph Stander

Richard J. Stander passed away on Monday, January 4, 2016 at the age of 73. He was the cherished husband of Joan Nunez Stander for 52 ½ years. Loving father of Elizabeth Jaufre (Andrew) and Scott Stander (Denise). Son of the late Samuel O. and Antonia Deogracias Stander. Brother of Carol Campo (the late Curtis), Diana Hauck (Rene), Gloria Johnson (Dan), Lee Stander (Leah) Toni Landry (Gary), Debbie Hughes and the late Samuel Stander (Diane) and Chris Stander. Brother-in-law of Earline Serigne (Arnold) and Mary Colletti (the late Michael). Proud grandfather of Jeffery Schaub Jr. (Melany Romero), Rebecca Cochran (R.J.), Alex Grgich and Dylan Grgich (Heather Zuehlke). Great grandfather of Jaxon, Jayden and Robert Cochran. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Richard was born on January 21, 1942 in New Orleans, LA and was a resident of Toca in St. Bernard Parish. He was a Plant Foreman for Shell Oil Co. and retired after 30 years of service. Richard was blessed with many God given talents. He truly enjoyed working and doing things, especially refurbishing his 1941 Ford pickup truck. Richard was deeply committed to his faith, family and friends and celebrating them was most important to him. He will be forever remembered and deeply missed by all who knew him.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation to be held at ST. BERNARD CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2805 Bayou Rd., St. Bernard, LA on Thursday, January 7, 2016 from 9:30 AM – 11:30 AM. A Funeral Mass will begin at 11:30 AM. He will be laid to rest in St. Bernard Catholic Cemetery, St. Bernard, LA.
