

Romeo Espiritu passed away peacefully while surrounded by his family at his home on Thursday, January 9, 2025 at the age of 87. He was the beloved husband of 65 years to Paulina Espiritu. Loving father of Maria Teresa, Anelie “Annette”, Levener, Larry, Bobby, Luis, Mary Jean and Resty. Son of the late Fausto and Rosa Espiritu. Brother of Ely Catolos, Pepe Espiritu and the late Pedro, Felino, Jimmy, Napoleone, Erning and Lina. Proud grandfather of Simon, Sarah, Demi Ann, Demvoy, Paula, Diana, Jay, Mark, Jefty, Ayen, John Carlo, John Lee, Phoebie Joy, Paolo Jee, Christian, Cyrine, JB, Lerica, Lester, Jezuete, Jedelle, Jhed, Reia and Rica. Great grandfather of Tamara, Hiraya, Sophie Marie, Caleb, Demery, Farrah, Liam, Vito Azrael, Emem, MJ, Mark Angelo Jr., Ashly, Lance Neithan, Clint Justine, Aston Jeff, Chloe, Zyrelle, Zena, Zia, Xavier, Zakia and Zyra. He is also survived and fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
Born in Manila, Philippines, Romeo spent many years as a resident of St. Bernard Parish. He dedicated a long and fulfilling career as a Room Service Attendant, where his hard work and kind nature left a lasting impression on so many guests who visited. He found joy in the simple pleasures of life, from tending to his garden to enjoying peaceful moments fishing, biking, and watching his favorite YouTube channels. However, it was the time spent with his family that he cherished most. Romeo's deep love and loyalty to his loved ones were the cornerstone of his life. He was a man who cared deeply for those around him, always showing up for his family and friends with a generous spirit and warm heart. His laughter, kindness, and dedication to spoiling his grandchildren will be remembered by all who knew him. Romeo's life embodied the essence of family, finding joy in the details of everyday life and always making time for those who mattered most. Romeo will be dearly missed but his memory will live on through the stories and moments he shared with those he loved. Rest in peace, dear Romeo. Your stories and the memories you created will always be remembered and treasured by your family and friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation to be held at ST. BERNARD MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA on Thursday, January 16th from 11:00AM – 1:00PM, followed by a funeral service in Romeo’s memory beginning at 1:00PM. He will be laid to eternal rest in St. Bernard Memorial Gardens.
