It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Russell Peter Wolverton, a beloved father, family member, and friend, who left us at the age of 65. Born in New Orleans, Louisiana, he spent much of his life in Chalmette, LA and Satsuma, AL, where he built deep roots and lasting connections. A proud graduate of Chalmette High School, Class of 1978, he carried the spirit of his community with him throughout his life.
Russell was a hardworking man who dedicated many years of his life as a welder and in air conditioning repair. He was a man whose soul was deeply tied to music. Playing the guitar was not just a hobby, it was his passion and a defining part of who he was. Whether strumming familiar tunes or creating his own melodies, music brought him joy and allowed him to connect with others. Beyond music, he found peace and happiness in the outdoors. Appreciating the quiet moments and simple pleasures of life in fishing, hunting, and water sports. He was a lifelong fan of the Tulane Green Wave, taking great joy in cheering them on and celebrated every victory with pride. Above all else, his greatest joy was his family and friends. He cherished every moment spent with his daughters and loved ones, creating memories filled with laughter, music, and love.
Russell is survived by his daughters, Amanda Pentney (CJ) and Robyn Henderson (Brad); his grandchildren, Justus (Amanda), Tyler, Madison and Connor; his great- grandchildren, Zander and Quinn; his mother, Gail Forest Wolverton; his siblings, Randall (Toni), Tami (Kevin), Cynthia (Alan) and many other family and friends. He is preceded in death by his father, Albert "Buck" Wolverton.
He will be remembered for his warm spirit, his passion for music, and the way he brought people together. His presence will be deeply missed, but his memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial gathering to be held at ST. BERNARD MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, from 11:00AM- 1:00 PM. Burial will follow in St. Bernard Memorial Gardens.
