Shirley Mae Green Willheit gained her angel wings on Tuesday, August 24, 2021. She was 85 years old. She was the loving mother of Sharon Willheit Frederickson (Roger) and Randy Willheit (Julie). Grandmother of Ashley Frederickson Brown (Matthew), Tyler Frederickson, Jennifer Willheit (Trenton), Randy Willheit (Theresa), and Nicholas Willheit. Great-grandmother of Kaitlyn, Cody, Kylie, Cade, Helena, Hendrix, Dylan, Brenton, and Keaton. She was preceded in death by her husband, the late Ronald E. "Lefty" Willheit, Sr.; by her son, the late Ronald E. "Ronnie" Willheit, Jr.; by her mother, the late Hilda D. Green; and by her brother, the late Corp. Norvin Green USMCR. She is also survived by many other relatives and dear friends.
Shirley enjoyed a long career with the Department of Agriculture, where she made many wonderful friends and was admired by all. In her spare time, she loved trying her luck at the casino with her husband, son, and friends and enjoyed attending church on a regular basis. Her Catholic faith was an important part of her life and helped mold her into the kind, compassionate, and selfless woman everyone knew her to be. She dedicated her life to her children and grandchildren, who were the center of her world. Her memory will forever live on in their hearts, and she will be eternally missed.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt debt of gratitude to Traditions Hospice, for the unwavering care and support shown to Shirley in her final days.
A private celebration of Shirley's life was held at St. Bernard Memorial Funeral Home, in Chalmette. To view a recording of the service, please visit www.facebook.com/stbernardmemorial.
