

Mr. Cooke was the beloved husband of Linda Wright Cooke for 50 years; son of the late Norman and Lorene Longino Cooke; father of Michelle Lynn Cooke Tauzin (Mike), Sylvia Cooke Penny (Chad), and the late Thomas Edward Cooke, Jr; grandfather of Andrew Robert Pizzalato, Jr, Justin Michael Tauzin, Gabrielle Lee Penny, and Timothy Andrew Penny; brother of Ruth Monnerjahn, Betty Boyd (Lane), Larry Cooke (Suzanne), and Guy Cooke (Merle).
Prior to Hurricane Katrina, he was a member of Club 550.
Mr. Cooke was a devoted, lifelong patriot. He proudly served in both the United States Marine Corps, LCpl, 1961-1966, and in the United States Army, achieving the rank of Sergeant First Class, retiring after 22 years of service. Mr. Cooke earned many awards of distinction: Good Medal of Conduct (1st – USMC), National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge, Overseas Service Bars, Bronze Star Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Silver Star, Air Medal, Army of Occupation Medal, Army Commendation Medal with V Device, Army Commendation Medal, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm, Good Conduct Medal (3rd Award). Campaigns included Korea and Vietnam Counteroffensive Phases III, IV, V, VI, VII, Consolidation I. As is deserving, Mr. Cooke will receive full military funeral honors.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation to be held at ST. BERNARD MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA on Sunday, December 27, 2015, from 11:30 am until 1:00 pm. A Funeral Service will begin at 1:00 pm in the Chapel. Mr. Cooke will be laid to rest in St. Bernard Memorial Gardens.
