Todd Alexander Nunez passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 5, 2025 at the age of 61. His final days were spent surrounded by family and friends that he had touched in some way throughout his very memorable life. His passing marks the end of a life well-lived, one that left a lasting impact on everyone fortunate enough to have met him.
He was the beloved and devoted father of Sarah Nunez and Jared Nunez (Caitlin). Proud grandfather of Murphy Nunez and Baylor Nunez. Brother of Nick Nunez, Mark Nunez (Linda), Richie Nunez, Melissa Hebert (Kevin) and the late Ronnie Nunez (Anita). Son of the late Sherry Nunez and Ronald Nunez. He is also survived and fondly remembered by numerous nieces, nephews and his extended family and friends.
Born in New Orleans, LA, Todd was a proud and longtime resident of St. Bernard Parish. He was a graduate of Chalmette High School, class of 1980, and went on to earn multiple degrees from the University of New Orleans, which fueled his passion for teaching and education. He devoted much of his life to teaching, sharing his passion and wisdom with so many of his students. But Todd was much more than an educator. He was a coach, an avid fisherman, a talented photographer, and a writer whose sports stories appeared in the pages of the Parish Post. His love for sports was deep, whether he was enjoying the camaraderie of a game, playing a round of golf, or discussing with friends the thrill and intricacies of team rivalries.
Todd was also the go-to person for history and family stories, known for his remarkable memory and his ability to recall the smallest details. A lifelong collector, Todd’s interests spanned from baseball cards to figurines, coins, foreign currency, stamps, and gemstones. His curiosity and love for life were apparent in everything he did, from his hobbyist pursuits to his work as a driving instructor. His generous spirit, good nature, laughter and loyalty made him beloved by all who knew him.
Above all, Todd will be remembered as a devoted father, brother, grandfather, and friend to so many good people. His love for his family was always on display, and he leaves behind so many acts of kindness, laughter, and a deep sense of community. Rest in peace, dear Todd. Your stories and the memories you helped create will live on in the hearts of your family, friends, and all those whose lives you touched.
