Yvonne Marie White

Yvonne Marie Francinges White, passed away in Slidell surrounded by loved ones and family on December 20, 2014. Yvonne was born in New Orleans, LA on December 7, 1922 to Gertrude and Gabriel Francingues, and was 92 years old.

Yvonne worked as the vault room supervisor at Schwegmann's in Chalmette for 22 years and "never met a stranger"; she was loved by everyone she met and enjoyed all that life had to offer, savoring every last bite. Her greatest joy was being surrounded by her grand and great grandchildren, fishing, and finding new paths to adventure. She could fill a room with her laughter and her infectious humor. She was selfless, tireless, fearless, and tenacious, helping anyone who needed it and never needing to be repaid. The world has lost an incredibly kind, beautiful, and generous spirit.

Yvonne is survived by her son, Thomas J. White, Jr. (Cathy); daughter, Sandra White Bishop (Irving “Bubba”); grandchildren: Christal Ann White, Matthew White; Irving Jr. “Skipper” (Cindy), Wayne (Rhonda), Stephen (Toby) Bishop, Stephanie Bishop Reeves (Glenn); Katherine White Hebert (Steven), Baron Jr., and Robert White. She is also survived by 23 great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren, and a “raft of nieces and nephews”.

Yvonne was preceded in death by both her mother Gertrude, and father Gabriel; her husband and love of her life, Thomas “Whitey” White, Sr.; her sons, Rene and Baron; and all of her siblings, Baron, Eunice, Gertrude, Jeanne, Roy, Norman, and Florence.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Visitation to be held at ST. BERNARD MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA on Friday, December 26, 2014 from 9:00 A.M.–1:00 P.M. A Funeral Service will follow in the Chapel at 1:00 P.M.. Burial will be in Cypress Gove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made in Yvonne’s name to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, www.stjude.org.
