Janet Louise Peters

Janet L. Peters, 87, of Chambersburg, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 22nd, 2025 at the Martin House at Menno Haven. Born April 11, 1937 in Chambersburg, PA she was the daughter of the late Otha and Cora McCleary.

Janet graduated from Chambersburg High School in 1955, PA. She worked as a sales associate at Strawbridge & Clothier in Cherry Hill, NJ, for 27 years while raising 2 daughters.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years Norman E. Peters whom she married on December 23rd, 1956; her sister Betty Schukman, and her brother Robert McCleary.

She is survived by sister Renee Lesher; two daughters, Karen Schmoyer (husband Scott) of Newark, DE and Michele Matthes (husband Rob) of St Petersburg FL: 5 grandchildren, Shana Caltabiano, Gretchen Mann and Kyle Schmoyer, and Andy Gibson, Kevin Gibson along with 5 great-grandchildren.

A viewing will be held at Parklawns Memorial Gardens Chapel at 10:00 on Wednesday, January 29th, 2025, with services following. Arrangements are entrusted to Parklawns Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg, PA.
