

Anita Leal Gonzales passed away peacefully on November 8, 2023, with her family by her side, at the age of 87. She leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion as a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Anita will be fondly remembered by her children: Joe A. Gonzales, Anna Sachwitz (Scott Sachwitz), and John E. Gonzales (Monica M Gonzales), and grandchildren, Morgan A Gonzales and Jaxon E Gonzales. In addition to her immediate family, Anita is survived by her siblings and their spouses: Aristeo & Elida Leal (Teo & Lila), Placido & Eval Leal, Gabriela & Adan Cantu (Gela), Dario & Hermila Leal, Diamantina Trevino (Blanca) (deceased spouse Carlos), and Elda Alicia Vega (Borris) (deceased spouse Leocadio); and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Anita Leal Gonzales was born on July 26, 1936, in China, Nuevo León, Mexico, to Gabriela and Dario Leal. Upon meeting her beloved husband, Jose Gonzales, her journey brought her to Texas and ultimately, Fremont, California. Together for 47 years until Jose's passing in 2005, they were blessed with three children: Joe, Anna, and John.
Anita's deep love for her family was evident in the cherished moments they shared together. Her delicious tamales, among other special dishes, were loved and enjoyed by all. An avid gardener, Anita found joy in nurturing her flowers and a diverse array of plants. Her quick wit and passionate spirit energized those around her. Anita enthusiastically supported her grandchildren in their sports endeavors, often being the loudest cheerleader on the sidelines. Her vibrant spirit and warm presence, marked by her infectious laughter, will be sorely missed by all who were fortunate enough to know her.
In eternal rest, Anita Leal Gonzales reunites with her beloved husband, Jose Gonzales, finding solace and eternal companionship.
A funeral service to celebrate Anita's life is scheduled for 10 am on November 13, 2023, at St. Stevens Parish on the corner of Riggs Rd and Dobson Rd.
