Born on November 21,1945 in Fort Davis, Texas to Beatriz and Richard Gonzales, Armando graduated from Marfa High School before joining the US Air Force and attending Syracuse University.
A proud veteran, “Monday” served his country in the US Air Force as a specialized linguist intercepting radio transmissions between Russia and the Vietcong during the Vietnam War. After his honorable discharge, he made a career in logistics. His work required intelligence, discipline, and unwavering focus, and he carried those qualities with him throughout his life.
Armando is preceded in death by his adored daughter, Barb Gonzales (Farhoud) whom he loved fiercely; his parents, Richard and Beatriz, and brother Richard Gonzales Jr.
He is survived by his extremely devoted wife of 58 years Marty Gonzales (Horner); his beloved son, Tim (Nigal) Gonzales; his cherished granddaughters, Aliyah Farhoud, Alyssa Farhoud (their father A.J. Farhoud), Daniela Gonzales; and siblings Edward Gonzales, Delma Lewis, Thelma LaFarelle.
”Monday” was an exceptional artist and had a lifelong passion for traveling, exploring new places, and found joy in the beauty and nostalgia of trains.
He will be remembered for his steady presence, love and enormous pride for his family, conversations with his neighbors and dog treats for his four legged visitors. His legacy will continue to live on in the family who loved him and in the memories they will carry forward.
Currently, no services for Armando are planned at this time.
