

Ben E. Maynard, 77, of Sun Lakes, Arizona, passed away on May 21, 2012. Ben was born in Las Animas, Colorado on February 25, 1935, to Benjamin and Dorothy Maynard. The Maynards moved to Arizona in 1946, where Ben would live the rest of his life. Ben was a member of the Arizona Teamsters Union, serving as the union’s apprenticeship program coordinator for more than 30 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a skilled sharpshooter. As a member of the Arizona Masonry, Arizona Lodge No. 2 F&AM, Ben was a 32nd degree Mason of the Scottish Rite. He was an avid tennis and golf player, a master mechanic, and over the years built a vacation home in the Heber/Overgaard area that he frequented with his family. He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Beverly Maynard, daughter Debbie Mollihan, sons Bennie, Jr. and Doug, six grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. Services will be held Saturday, May 26, 2012, commencing with visitation at 10:00 a.m., followed by a funeral service at 11:00, at Valley of the Sun Mortuary,10940 Chandler Heights Road, Chandler, Arizona. A private burial will be held at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona in Phoenix on Tuesday, May 29. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the local Humane Society in Ben Maynard’s name.
