Bert was born in Prescott, AZ, but spent the bulk of her younger years in Des Moines, IA. She worked at and managed restaurants early on. She went to work for the U.S. Postal Service where she met her husband, Kelly. They moved to Fargo, ND for work. In Fargo, Bert completed Business School and worked at a local bank for a time. She eventually began working for the U.S. Postal Service again. Bert and Kelly both retired from the USPS and moved to Chandler, AZ in 2011.
Bert is survived by her husband of 44 years, Kelly, two sons David (Julie) Schick, of West Fargo, ND and Douglas (Monica) Schick of Mission, TX; five grandchildren; and two great grandchildren. Additionally she is survived by three sisters, Marilyn Grother, Des Moines, IA, Patty Raymond, Des Moines, IA, Florence Ellis, Pomeroy, IA, and one brother, Harold "Sonny" (Debbie) Littell, Des Moines, IA.
