Betsy was born on July 4, 1935 in Bronx, New York where she attended Art School and developed her passion for painting and art in many mediums. In 1953, Betsy met the love of her life, Howard Scherer who she was married to for more than 69 years until Howard's death in May 2022 at the age of 91. Together they raised three children, Amy Hartnett, Jeff Scherer and Doug Scherer.
Betsy's passions over the years included her family, sewing, painting, traveling, shopping, and her dogs that she treated like family.
She is survived by her children, Amy Hartnett, Jeff Scherer (Nancy), Doug Scherer; grandchildren Jackie Faryna (John), Adam Scherer, Ashley Milot (AJ) and Brooke Hartnett; great-grandchild Aurora Faryna. She is preceded in death by her husband, Howard Scherer and her grandson, Joshua Scherer.
