Pierce, Betty Mieko 94, of Chandler, Arizona passed away on February 17, 2019. Betty was born October 21,1924 in Tokyo, Japan to the late Bentaro Miyata and Roku Hirai. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, a proud grandmother and great-grandmother who loved spending time with her family. Betty was preceded in death her loving husband of 62 years Lyle Lawrence Pierce, daughter Helen Pierce Morgan, her parents and 8 brothers and 2 sisters.
Survived by her sons Richard (Brigita), Dublin, OH, Bruce, Tempe, AZ, Dale (Sherri) Yorktown, VA; grandchildren Laura, Erik, Ashley Nortness (Brandon), Taylor Morgan, Tiffany Mieko Gray (David), Daniel (Mamiko), Nathaniel, Jonathan, Dale Jr; great-grandchildren Natalie and Elliott Nortness, Mackenzie Mieko Gray; brother Katsumi Miyata, Tokyo, Japan; brothers-in-law Lynn, Neal, Gordon(Helen), Ronald (Linda Darlene), Michael (Linda); sisters-in-law Leah Cathey, LaVonne Wollum, and Norma Mangels.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, March 7, 2019 at 6:30 pm at First Baptist Church of Fountain Hills, 10215 N. Saguaro Blvd, Fountain Hills, Arizona. Pastor Tony Pierce Officiating. Betty will be placed to rest with her husband at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona.
