It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of our mother's passing. Beverly Jane Wheeler Swanson was born in Belle River, Minnesota, on September 8, 1934. After graduating from high school, she married her sweetheart, Pete Swanson. Together, they raised their family of four children primarily in Grand Island, Nebraska. Mom was a remarkable woman, and her absence will be deeply felt. She cherished her family and grandchildren. She loved her sons-in-law and daughter-in-law as if they were her own children. Mom was particularly fond of her 10 grandchildren, and they brought her immense joy. She would eagerly cheer them on at their various sports activities and dance recitals, make them French toast and root beer floats, and play card games or board games with them. Hugs were a constant occurrence when the grandchildren were around, and she felt incredibly blessed to witness their growth into adulthood. Mom was an exceptional grandmother.
Mom was always up for a good time. She found happiness in the outdoors, particularly in tending to her flowers and shrubs in the yard. She also enjoyed spending time with her friends, playing bridge and other card games, and golfing. Mom was an avid reader and loved getting together with her sister, Shirley Eberspacher, whom she considered her best friend.
Bev is survived by her children, Mark and Cindy Swanson, Lori and Dave Misener, Becky and Mo Maag, and Jeni and Mike Akins as well as her sister-in-law Diane Hanson. Bev's life was filled with love and joy, and she will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
Bev's grandchildren include Stephanie, Desi, Morgan, Pete, Cameron, Hannah, Heath, Jonas, Tyler, and Tanner. She also has eight great grandchildren: Morgan, Ben, Greyson, Theo, Lilly, Graham, Isla and Beckham.
Bev is preceded in death by her husband of over 46 years, Pete Swanson, as well as her brothers, Lloyd Wheeler and Jim Wheeler and sister Shirley Eberspacher. A private Celebration of Life will be held in Chandler, Arizona, to honor Bev's life and celebrate her memory.
