Donald Seaton Greenleaf, age 93, of 26409 S. Eastlake Drive, Sun Lakes, Arizona went to be with the Lord February 19, 2014 at his current residence Whitewing Mansions, 1151 S. Sean Drive, Chandler, Arizona.
Donald was born August 30, 1920 in Lawrence, Kansas to the late Fred Stanley Greenleaf and Merle Patterson Greenleaf.
He served his country in WW11 in the Army Air Corps where he flew missions over China, India and Burma. After being discharged, he got a job with Eastern Air Lines in Miami, Florida. He worked hard to be promoted from mechanic to Supervisor of Avionics at which he retired from after 35 years.
Shortly after working at Eastern, he met Ruth Githens and they made a life raising 6 children and being actively involved in their church. Dad was Sunday School Superintendent, teacher and Mom and Dad were directors of the Luther League at St. Peter’s/St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. They followed the pastor when he started Christ the King Lutheran Church and continued to be devoted to doing the Lord’s Work.
With Ruth’s passing April 10, 1978, the Lord sent Dad another companion, Wilma June.
They married and made their life in Sun Lakes, Arizona where they became faithful members of First Baptist Church of Sun Lakes and stayed active and doing all they could do for the Lord. Since Dad had the electronics knowledge, he was able to put in a sound system for the church. He loved recording the services and burning CD’s for the church shut-ins.
Dad was a devoted caregiver to June in her last years, always sacrificing for her well being. He stayed by her side through it all and upon her passing, he was devastated. As Dad’s own health continued to deteriorate, his loving and devoted children stayed by him as he was moved into Whitewing Mansions Assisted Living. Dad stayed strong during all the hospital stays and rehabs because he kept his faith in his Lord Jesus Christ and he had the love of his children.
