

Doris E. Babicke - age 89, passed away peacefully in Chandler, AZ on October 21, 2013...........one day before her 69th wedding anniversary. Doris was born on Friday, April 25, 1924 one of five children of Charles and Mary (Sullivan) Lindquist. She was born in the Red Hook section of Brooklyn, New York. During World War II, Doris worked in two defense plants, Amour Engineering and Sperry Gyroscope, assembling aircraft bombing sights. She married her high school sweetheart, Robert (Bob) Babicke on
October 22, 1944. Doris and Bob have seven children, six boys and one girl. Doris, Bob and family lived in Brooklyn, N.Y until Bob’s retirement from N.Y.P.D. when they moved to Rockland County, N.Y. They then moved to New Mexico, then Dallas, Texas and finally settled in the Phoenix area in 1989. Doris loved to dance and she loved music, movies and interior decorating. Most of all she loved her husband, her children and her grandchildren. She is pre-deceased by her brother, John and and her sister, Edith. She is survived by Bob, her husband of 69 years, her children, Robert Jr., Thomas, Dennis, John, Doreen, William and Timothy and their spouses, her two sisters, Virginia and Rosemary, her seventeen grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. Family and friends are invited to attend a 3:00 PM Rosary Service on Saturday, October 26, 2013 at Valley of the Sun Mortuary, 10940 E. Chandler Heights Road, Chandler, AZ 85248.
