Dorothy M. Britton

Dorothy was born February 5, 1916, in Flandreau, South Dakota, the daughter of the late Joanna and Harry Duncan. She was the older of two siblings. In 1939 she married Glenn Britton, who died in 1993. They had four children during their successful years of farming, ranching and teaching in the Mitchel, South Dakota area. She graduated from Dakota Wesleyan University in 1963. Dorothy retired from teaching at Whittier Elementary School in 1978 and she and Glenn moved to Chandler, AZ, in 1979. Dorothy is survived by one sister, Lois Weigel of Glendale, AZ; one son, Gary (Jean) of Slinger, WI; three daughters, Beverly Jacobson (Kirk Adams) of Monroe, WA; DeeDee Karabetsos (Jim) of Rapid City, SD, and Jan Utsler (Gary) of Pottsboro, TX; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. Services for Dorothy will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 4 at Valley of the Sun, Chandler, AZ.
