Eugene Lynn Hankins is the youngest son born to the union of Legrew and Ann Hankins. In his 20’s he became a Christian by joining the Church of Christ where he accepted Christ as Lord and Savior. Eugene continued fighting the good fight of faith, transitioning into eternity as a good and faithful servant.
Eugene attended Roth High School, graduating in 1974. After high school, his love of mechanicals blossomed by attending college for engineering. Through his love for mechanics, Eugene sought out careers in science at companies like Inland (Dayton, OH), Rockwell International, and ICI Composite Materials (Tulsa, OK), which relocated the family to Arizona in the 80’s. Later, Eugene started as an IT professional at Arizona State University before retiring.
In his last years, Eugene felt his daughters Tiffany and Gabrielle’s endless love in caring for him at home so he could be more comfortable during his health challenges. After his triumphant battle, he ascended into God’s presence.
Eugene is remembered for his family values, brilliant mind, and unshakable faith. He took pride in playing and imparting life lessons to his son, daughters, and granddaughters. Family get-togethers, grilling, studying the bible, and preaching Sunday church service to his granddaughters were his favorite pastimes. He remained a fervent fan of the Cleveland Browns.
His father, Legrew Hankins Sr., brother, Legrew Hankins Jr., sister Lyla Dixon, son-in-law, Demetrius Williford, and nephew Kitwana Hankins preceded Eugene in passing. He leaves to cherish his loving memories his two daughters, Tiffany Hankins-Williford and Gabrielle Hankins and son Eugene Emmanuel Hankins; granddaughters, Aaliyah Williford, Amaya Williford, Mila Hankins, Nami Canizales-Hankins and Kaya Canizales-Hankins; mother, Ann Hankins of Dayton, Ohio; sister, Rose Hankins of Dayton, Ohio; two brothers, Rap Hankins (Jan) of Dayton, Ohio, James Hankins of Dayton, Ohio; nieces, Iesha Hankins and Akilah (Joe) Biederman; nephews, Isaac Hankins and Kwesi Hankins; and a host of extended family such as the mother of his children Karen Lee, former mother-in-law, Gwen Lee, brother-in-law Kendall Lee (Tanya), uncle Irvin Lee and special friends.
