Gene was born in Wyandotte, Michigan but moved to California on his honeymoon. There he continued his career in Hollywood not just repairing wrecked cars but modifying numerous vehicles for the movies. In 1970 he joined the Sheriff's Department where he oversaw the modification and repair of all LA County vehicles and equipment from lawnmowers to fire trucks. Gene and Geraldine started their retirement by traveling around country in their RV and seeing the sights in Europe. They made their home in Monument, Colorado and being "snowbirds" they wintered in Arizona. Gene's artistic abilities found their outlet in woodworking. He made furniture, free standing and wall mounted art, and at least one hope-chest but his passion was building "bird houses." Not ordinary bird houses but intricate miniature homes of all shapes and styles. Geraldine, unable to part with any of them, proudly displayed them throughout their home.
He is survived by his wife, Geraldine, his son David, his sister Sandra, his granddaughter Danielle, niece Diana, and great niece Amanda.
He will be deeply missed by all.
