

Francis Edwin Cusack, known to many as Ed, passed away on January 9, 2026, at the age of 77. A resident of Gilbert, Arizona, Ed was a devoted, hard-working, humorous, selfless, and inspirational individual who touched the lives of many.
Born on January 18, 1948, Ed dedicated his life to serving others. He was a United States Army Veteran and a Veteran of the Vietnam War. Following his military service, Ed worked as a police officer and for Illinois Bell, demonstrating his commitment to protecting and serving his community.
Ed was a sweet, kind, and considerate husband, father, brother, uncle "Frankie", grandfather, and friend. He loved volunteering his time to support organizations that directly impacted the community and kids. Ed enjoyed playing softball and golf, was an avid sports collector, and found joy in puzzling, loved dogs, and playing cards. His stories and jokes were a source of joy to those around him.
Active in his community, Ed was a member of the Knights of Columbus, FOP, American Legion, VFW, Kiwanis, and Civil Defense/ESDA. His involvement in these organizations reflected his commitment to service and community engagement.
Ed is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Alice; his son Ed and daughter-in-law Stephanie; and his cherished grandchildren Addison and Courtney Cusack. He is also survived by his sisters Debbie and Kathy, and brother Donnie. Ed was preceded in death by his parents, Don and Pat Cusack, his sister Donna, and his brother Bobby.
A formal and respectful urn placement service will be held at Valley of the Sun Mortuary, located at 10940 East Chandler Heights Rd, Chandler, AZ 85248, on January 19, 2026, from 9:00 am to 9:30 am.
