Gregory Giles Zarnick, born November 1st 1946, passed away on March 10th, 2026. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Dorothy Zarnick, and his bride, Marie. Greg is survived by his three sisters (Jackie, Janice, and Jeanine), and his brother (Garry). In addition, he leaves behind his two sons (Jim and Ken), two daughter-in-laws (Sheri and Kimberly) and six amazing grandchildren (Ellery, Noah, Ian, Caleb, Ethan, and Alorah).
After graduating from DePaul University (65-68), Greg was drafted into the Army to serve in the Vietnam War. Marie’s near-fatal accident kept Greg from being deployed. Greg also served in the Air Force Reserves and was a proud veteran. He worked for the Federal Government his entire career, first in Social Security and then for Health and Human Services as Assistant Regional Inspector General, Office of Investigations.
While Greg was a world-traveler he found peace in nature and often hiked around Arizona, with the Grand Canyon being one of his favorite places. Greg will be remembered for his dedication to Christ and the church, where he was often found playing guitar or singing in the choir. He had a laid-back sense of humor and had a lifelong love of trains. A service will be held at St. Steven’s Catholic Church in Sun Lakes at 10:30am on May 22nd, with a luncheon to follow. All who knew Greg are invited to attend. He will be dearly missed and will be in the hearts of all who knew him.
