

Harvey was born on November 5, 1929, in Little Rock, Arkansas to Ralph and Ruth (Gibson) Anderson. He was the last of 3 children. Harvey graduated from North Little Rock High School as Salutatorian of his class when he was 16 years old. He went to the University of Arkansas for two years before he enlisted in the US Air Force. He was stationed at Lackland Air Force Base in Texas where he worked in the Medical Research Labs for three years. After his discharge from the Military he went to Tucson, AZ where he continued his education at the University of Arizona. He would go to school a year then work a year to pay for the next year of school. He got a job working at the Geological Survey in Thatcher, Arizona. While living in Thatcher he met the love of his life Lena Mortensen, and they were married on August 14, 1954. He continued his education and received his Degree of Bachelor of Science from Arizona State University in Tempe, AZ in 1956. In the early years of their marriage they lived in Tempe, AZ, Thatcher, AZ, Ventura, CA, Fort Worth, TX, Town Creek, MD and Oxnard, CA. During this time, they had four children, Linda, Morris, Stephen and Carol. They lived in Oxnard for 18 years and moved and retired to Chandler, AZ in 1981.
Harvey’s family was his greatest joy. He was always found at their sports games, music concerts and the crossroads of their lives. He enjoyed playing golf, fishing and was always fixing something. Harvey always like to learn and when the internet became available, he spent countless hours on the computer researching things that he was interested in. He had knowledge of just about everything that was going on in the world.
He is a beloved Father, Grandfather and Great Grandfather and will be missed beyond words and forever be our Hero. Harvey was preceded in death by Lena, his wife of 65 years. His parents Ruth and Ralph R. Anderson, sister Dorothy Touchstone and brother Ralph M. Anderson.
He is survived by his four children, Linda Garcia, Morris Anderson, Stephen Anderson (Sandy) and Carol Simard (Marc), twelve grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
