

Wagner, Henry D. (“Hank”) age 93 of Sun Lakes, passed away March 13, 2012. Hank was born and raised in San Jose, CA. Hank graduated from the University of Oregon where he was a Sigma Chi. He met his first wife Peggy there. They married and raised two daughters and one son, Patty Elms (Arlen), Bill Wagner (Ann Marie) and Barbara, deceased. Hank served his country with the U.S. Air Force during WWII, serving as Group Operations officer, flying B-25’s with Chenault and the Flying Tigers in China. He retired as a Major in 1946. He enjoyed 42 years in the graphic arts business, selling Heidelberg printing presses. Hank lost Peg in 1989, but while on one of this 90 business trips to Hawaii, he met Ethel, also on business. They married in a traditional Hawaiian ceremony on the beach at sunset on May 22, 1992. After Hank retired, they moved to Sun Lakes where he could enjoy his favorite sport: Golf. Hank never met a stranger and had hundreds of friends. He will be sorely missed. He is a member of the Sun Lakes Rotary Club, the VFW, and Palo Verde Golf Club. He will be sorely missed. Hank is survived by his wife, Ethel, daughter Patty Elms, son Bill Wagner, stepsons Doug and Paul Budner, six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Donations may be made to Hospice of the Valley, Southeast Valley office. Services will be held at Sun Lakes United Methodist Church, Saturday, March 24, 2012 at 2:00 p.m., with a reception to follow services.
