Mr. Hilbink was My first boss and a very intelligent, gentle and loving one. He  always cared for his students and personnel at the UDLA creating a wonderful atmosphere and a great friendship among his personnel.
I remember one day that we were playing putting a paper tail on our backs and when we left on the staff bus, he drove very fast on his bike to put a tail on the fence of the bus.
I also remember the picnics he organized at his house.  Thank you Mr. Hilbink you have always been in my and my friends Happy memories.

Although I only worked with Jim a short time at AWC, he was always a gracious, friendly and helpful colleague.  I know his work at the college and in the Yuma community made a real difference.  Rest in peace Jim.

Madeline and I will always cherish our dear friendship and fond memories of Jim. We will never forget his warm and gregarious personality, his strength of character and integrity, and his dedication to professionalism and to the students and staff of AWC whom he always served with loyalty and kindness. It has been an honor and a privilege to call this great gentleman and educational leader our very close friend and to have known him and his beautiful family so well for nearly forty years. I am saddened to hear of Jim's passing. Jim was my boss (the best) when I started at the college in 1992 until he retired. Jim never met a stranger and was kind to everyone. RIP Jim

Dear Diana, Jeaneen & Alex:
Our love and prayers go out to the entire Hilbink Clan. It was special and an honor to share the same birthday with Jim, we would call and tease each other every May 19 (that and Jim will be greatly missed).  I hope the wonderful memories of Jim will sustain you all during this sad time. My favorite memory has to be the Hilbink/Byrd Imperial Dam camping trip, when Jim (ever the educator) patiently explained to Alex that the ladies we encountered were not wearing masks, that was all them. You all will always be in our hearts. Looking forward to his celebration of life.

I took Mr. Hilbink's History of Mexico class at Arizona Western College. He added a knowledgeable dimension to the class, and he will be missed by all.
