

Joseph George Truman, 68, of Maricopa, Arizona died on May 16, 2014 at Banner Desert Medical Center in Mesa, Arizona after a short battle with cancer. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, May 31, 2014 at 2pm at the Valley of the Sun Mortuary, 10940 E. Chandler Heights Road, Chandler, Arizona 85248.
Joe was born on December 29, 1945 in Manhattan, New York to Jessie Joseph Truman and Mary Bernice Krushinski. Joe was the eldest of 8 children. He graduated from Lebanon High School in 1963. Joe attended Paul Smith College in Lake Placid, New York. Joe married Donna L. Griggs on October 2, 1965 in West Lebanon, New Hampshire. They had three daughters, Robin Truman, Joelle Jolly, and Tina Truman.
Joe entered the US Air force in 1964 and served as a medic until 1968. In 1975 he joined the US Army where he served our country until 1991. Joe was a Pershing Missile Specialist. During his 20 years of service he did several tours in Germany, Oklahoma, and Florida. Joe raced for the US Army ski team and also served as a ski patrol for the US Army.
Joe was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal with 2 Oak Leaf Clusters, the Army Commendation Medal, the Air Force Good Conduct Medal, the Army Good Conduct Medal, the Air Force Commendation Medal, the National Defense Service Medal with Bronze Service Star, the Army Service Ribbon, and the Overseas Service Saudi Arabia Award.
After retiring from the military in 1991, Joe and Donna moved to Arizona where he began working for Orbital Sciences Corporation as the logistics manager until his time of death.
Joe enjoyed skiing, traveling, fishing, photography and playing golf. He loved spending time with his family.
Joe is survived by his wife, Donna Truman; daughter, Robin Truman of Maricopa, Arizona; daughter and son-in-law, Joelle and Alan Jolly of Lawton, Oklahoma; daughter, Tina Truman of Lawton, Oklahoma; 6 grandchildren, Benjamin Truman, Sarah Walworth, Victoria Jolly, Jacob Walworth, Joseph Jolly, and Caleb Walworth; great granddaughter, Braylyn Truman; sisters Bernice Isaacson, Dolly Robes, and Sue Ingalls; and brothers Henry Truman, Tommy Truman and Jesse Truman.
Joe is preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Mary Truman, and his brother, Eddie Truman.
