

Kevin McGrew, 61 of Gilbert, AZ, passed away October 9, 2013, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Kevin was born on March 10, 1952, in New Castle, Pennsylvania. He had a successful career in the solid waste industry having worked for many of the major companies including BFI, Waste Management, and USA Waste. At the time of his death, he was CEO of the Salt River Landfill, an enterprise of the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community, whom he respected and embraced with great love. In addition to his work, Kevin enjoyed watching professional sports, and he had a true passion for golf and motorcycles. Known for his sense of humor, Kevin almost always had a smile on his face. His kind and genuine nature left an indelible mark on everyone he knew. He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Bonnie, daughter Jordan, and stepson Rick King. He also leaves behind a mother, Theda McGrew of Ohio, and three sisters, Chris Funkhouser and Lynn Miller, both of Ohio, and Lori Veldhuis of Minnesota. Visiting hours will take place on Tuesday, October 15th, at 10:00 a.m. at Valley of the Sun Mortuary, 10940 E.
