Lois was diagnosed with Alzheimer's at the age of 86. She passed away peacefully in her sleep while in Hospice Care on April 1, 2020. She was 89 years of age.
Lois Jean Black was born on August 2, 1930 in Waynesboro, PA to Addison and Stella Graham. She attended Waynesboro High School where she was a cheerleader and was employed by United Telephone Company as an operator. She later met her future husband, Maxwell (Max) Black and they were married on August 28, 1948. Together they had one child, a son Gregory.
In 1969 Lois moved with her husband and son to Los Angeles due to a job transfer Max received with Frick Company. In 2001 they retire and moved to Sun Lakes, Arizona. While there they enjoyed gardening, attending concerts, plays and dinner theatre. In 2017 Max and Lois moved into an assisted living residence. In 2018 they celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary with family and friends.
Lois was a beauty. She was the one people were drawn to...with her engaging smile and outgoing personality. When she talked to you, she made you feel important and loved. She genuinely cared for people, young or old, and always took the time to talk to each person she came into contact with. She was a talented seamstress and crafter. She sewed and altered many of her own clothes. Lois loved to do flower arranging, embroidery and making cards. Her specialty was cooking and she took great pride in preparing meals for her family and sharing recipes with others. Many doctors, dentists, family and friends were the recipients of her generous gifts of cookies and beautiful cards.
Lois and her husband Max enjoyed travelling and together they explored more than 76 different countries. Her favorite was Tahiti, where they vacationed five times!
Max and Lois were members of Chandler Christian Church/Compass Christian Church for several years. Lois was predeceased by her brother Charles in 2011. She leaves behind her husband Maxwell of 71 years, residing in Memory Care, her sister, Jackie Henicle - Waynesboro, PA, and her son Greg and his wife Janet - Gilbert, AZ.

3 great-grandchildren: Thomas, Andrew and Rachel — Oklahoma
Lois will be deeply missed by her family and friends. We will remember her as the endearing, funny, generous and beautiful woman that she was. She is with Jesus now. See you later Mom, Grandma, Lois, Lolo...We love you.
