Lorenzo Benitez Marin 84 of Mesa, Arizona, passed away on October 9, 2012. He was born in Morenci, Arizona on September, 5, 1928. "Shorty", "L.B." as he was known by his family and friends, served his country in the US Army, Sgt. 1st Class and was a machinist for Phelps Dodge Corporation. Lorenzo is survived by his beloved wife Anna, sons Joseph (Nancy), Robert (Nellie), Ray (Barbara), Larry (Deedee), Danny (Ann), daughter Barbie (Timothy), 16 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Visitation/Rosary will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, October 15, 2012 at Valley of the Sun Mortuary & Cemetery, 10940 E. Chandler Heights Rd., Chandler, AZ. Funeral Mass will be held at 9:45 a.m. on Tuesday, October 16, 2012 at St. Timothy's Catholic Church, 1730 W. Guadalupe Rd., Mesa, AZ. Interment will follow the mass at Valley of the Sun Mortuary & Cemetery with reception at St. Timothy's Catholic Church immediately following the burial.
