She was born on October 20, 1944, and grew up on a rural farm in Hague, North Dakota, where she developed the grit, self-reliance, and practical spirit that stayed with her throughout her life.
In 1966, Marlene moved to Phoenix, Arizona, beginning a new chapter that would become her lifelong home. Over the years she lived in Phoenix, Ponderosa Springs, and most recently Sun Lakes—a place she was proud to call home.
