

Mary Lovas, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, passed away on March 14, 2025, at the age of 88. She was born on September 15, 1936, in New York City to James and Mary Strutt. Mary graduated from Mother Cabrini High School and went on to earn a certificate in Office Administration from Gibbs Secretarial School. She worked as an Executive Assistant at St. Regis Paper Co. in New York City before stepping back from her career to focus on her marriage and raising her family.
Mary met her husband, Istvan "Steve," at a dance in Flushing, New York. The two were married on August 29, 1964, at Holy Spirit Church in the Bronx, New York. Together, they raised their two daughters, Susanne and Elizabeth "Lisa," in Mahopac, New York. Here, Mary was a dedicated member of St. John’s Evangelist Church, where she was an active participant for over 55 years.
In addition to her devotion to family and faith, Mary had a lifelong love for tennis, which she played until her health no longer allowed. She also found joy in reading, particularly romance novels and mysteries. Alongside Steve, she traveled extensively in retirement, exploring destinations such as Hawaii, Alaska, California, and Europe. Mary was also an enthusiastic fan of Julio Iglesias.
Mary is survived by her devoted husband, Steve; their daughters, Susanne Sisler and Elizabeth "Lisa" Kineyko; their son-in-laws, Wallace Kineyko and Chris Sisler; her grandchildren, Stephanie, James, Mia, and Dmitri; and her siblings, James and Michael, along with their wives, Marcella and Joanne. She will be missed by all who knew her.
A visitation for Mary will be held on Monday, March 24, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Valley of the Sun Mortuary, 10940 East Chandler Heights Rd, Chandler, AZ 85248. A private funeral service and burial will be held on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, for family members.
