the third child – from an early age – was called Puggy. Puggy is survived by one sister, Edyie;
2 sons - Melvin III -- known to all of you as Sonny; and son Robbie; Grandchildren from Sonny:
Ashley, Megan, and Breon; Grandchildren from Robbie: Courtney, Lil Robbie, Cierra, and Isaac;
16 Great Grandchildren; Many nieces and nephews; extended family, and friends.
Puggy is preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, and 3 siblings. Puggy's parents relocated their family to
Des Moines, Iowa, and Puggy graduated high school from Des Moines Tech, and then he went into the
Army serving in Thailand during the Vietnam War. After 4 years he was honorably discharged,
and upon his return worked for Armstrong Tire – building tires, while going to college at
Des Moines Area Community College to become HVAC certified.
