Nancy's main goal in life was to create a home. A safe place for anyone to feel welcomed, cared for and above all else, loved. A home where not just her children, but family and friends could feel reassurance in the dark times, generosity in times of need or have a cheerleader for the joyous moments. She was a mom above all else.
Where she truly thrived was with her grandchildren. She loved them deeply and relished the chances to get to watch them grow and become another life touched by her kindness. This would even extend into her work with the Tempe Public Library where she ran programs that helped nurture young people into choosing career paths and help them find direction, confidence and opportunity.
Her life was marked by a quiet grace. She loved to watch the hawks out along the desert roads, swooping and soaring. She loved the theater and dance. Phantom of the Opera was an album that was a staple in her home. She made sure to introduce and nurture creativity and a love for the arts in her children and others. She enjoyed cooking even when all the food seemed to keep getting eaten before it actually hit the table.
She loved the chaos. A loud and full home was a happy one. And she did her best to provide that for all of us.
She is preceded in death by her parents Richard and Ruth Hodson, her sister Sharon Hodson, who she loved to laugh with over margaritas, and her brother Bill Hodson. Nancy is survived by her children Lauren Back and Anthony Giordano, Karin and Brian Evans, Charlie Back and Megan Corbett along with her grandchildren Harrison O'Connor, Decker Evans, and Dylan Evans.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Childsplay Theater Inc. of Tempe, Arizona.
