2017 with his family by his side following a brief illness. He had been battling cancer for
a number of years but a recent combination of health issues proved too much for even
our “energizer bunny” to overcome.
He is survived by his wife Evelyn (JoAnn), his daughter Michele (Nina), his son Keith
(Adonis) and his beloved grand-dog Halle.
Oscar was raised by his maternal grandparents John and Olivia Taylor following the
death of his mother Mary Taylor when he was 6 years of age. He spent a great deal of
loving time with his godmother Lucy Hebert.
Oscar proudly served in the army during the Korean War and was stationed in Japan.
He subsequently utilized his GI assistance to attend Xavier University and the Electronic
Institute of America becoming an Electronics Engineer. This profession served as an
enormous source of pride and joy for him for over 32 years with Burroughs / Unisys. He
was most proud of his contributions to the guidance systems at Cape Canaveral and to
the production and testing of check sorter systems during his time there.
His absolute greatest source of pride however was his 59 years of marriage to the love
of his life, Evelyn and raising his two children. He always used a saying when we were
young that “Watash would take care of everything”. Watash was a term used by the
military during the Korean War to mean best buddy or number one friend. He was not
only an amazing provider and father but a wonderful friend as we got older.
