

Rebecca “Becky” O’Bannon Hagelman died June 4th in Chandler, AZ at age 84 after a brief illness. She was born on November 8, 1928 in Midway, TX to James Edward and Cora Mae (Finney) O’Bannon. Becky was raised in Huntsville, TX, attended Huntsville High and graduated from Sam Houston State University with a degree in music. After a brief teaching career, she married Ronald Rudolph “Rudy” Hagelman Sr. on November 25, 1953. She inherited a loving son and with Rudy had four children of their own. Becky was a remarkable, unwavering, devoted wife and mother who nurtured her family while living in many cities across the U.S. where the insurance business called. Becky was always known as a kind and gentle southern lady, filled with grace, quick with a smile and an amazing ability to share just the right words to touch your heart and warm your soul. While she traveled the world and lived most recently near her daughter in Arizona, Texas was her home living most of the last 20 years in Austin and New Braunfels. She is preceded in death by Rudy, her husband for 52 years, sister Mary Lou O’Bannon Goldberg and brother James Edward O’Bannon. Becky is survived by her children Ronald R. Hagelman, Jr., Carl F. Hagelman (wife Karen), Curt R. Hagelman (wife Sylvie), Christa M. Schroeder (husband Robert), and Claus E. Hagelman (wife Susan) as well as 11 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. A celebration of Becky’s life will be held on Friday, July 5th beginning at 1:00 pm at The Barn, 156 N. Solms Road, New Braunfels, TX, 78132.
