Reynaldo Salinas Cantu was born in Loveland Colorado on May 6, 1948 and passed away on May 8,2024 . He was preceded in death by his father Ricardo Cantu, mother Carmen Salinas Cantu, sister Bertha Cantu, and brother Moses Cantu."Rey" came from a large family living in the state of Texas and who finally made Arizona their home in the 1950s.. He is survived by his wife Virginia, his daughter Anna Lisa Ochoa (husband Tony Ochoa),three grand children Julianne Gaeta (husband Ruben Gaeta), Anthony Ochoa (Ceinna), Joseph Ochoa (Ari), four great grandsons Jude Rey Gaeta, Levi Gaeta, Jayce Ochoa and the youngest Jett Ochoa. In addition survivors include brothers Richard (Emma), Ramiro (Esperanza), Alfred, Daniel (Maria), Joe (Debbie), Hector (Sylvia),and Samuel (Anita). He loved and enjoyed the times spent with his large family of cousins and family members spread across the state of Texas, Arizona and other parts of the country. Rey served his country as a member of the United States Marine Corp during the worst times in the Vietnam War in the late 60s. He was honorably discharged and came home where he established his home in Tempe, AZ and worked for the National Gypsum Company and retired after 41 years of dedicated service. If anything can be said of Rey it would come from the comments of his family and friends, he was a man educated by life, was the best father, grandfather, husband, friend who according to them could fix anything, who took the time to listen, who enjoyed the jokes shared by family and friends, who was always ready to help, who honored his parents and most of all loved his family unconditionally.
A celebration of life for Reynaldo will be held Thursday, May 16, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Valley of the Sun Mortuary, 10940 East Chandler Heights Rd, Chandler, AZ 85248, followed by a graveside service from 12:00 PM to 12:30 PM.
