

Russell Dorsett, 90, passed away on November 5, 2016 in Mesa, AZ. Russ was born on November 19, 1925 in White Swan, WA to Roy and Eva Dorsett. Russ is preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Phyllis and son, Roy; and brothers Leroy and Merlin. He is survived by three daughters, Jeri Erbert, Angela (Bill) Jackson, Sally (Jim) Harper; and sister Barbara (Gaylord) Maine. He also leaves behind 10 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, 15 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Russ served in the USCG-Merchant Marines in the South Pacific during WWII. Russ and Phyllis moved their family to Superior in 1952 where he began his employment with Kennecott – Ray Mines. He retired after 30 years as a dozer and grader supervisor. Russ was also a Reserve Officer with the Pinal County Sheriff Office in Superior. Upon retirement, he and Phyllis enjoyed many years of “RVing”. Russ was an 18 year resident of Hereford, AZ until his recent move to Mesa.
Russ was a 55 year member of the BPOE Elks #2809; serving as Exulted Ruler in 1969. He enjoyed singing and playing guitar with the Old Time Fiddlers in Casa Grande. He was a member of the American Legion.
Memorial services will be held at Valley of the Sun Mortuary, 10940 East Chandler Heights Rd, Chandler, AZ on Tuesday, November 15 at 1:00 p.m. Russell will be interned with Military Honors at Holy Hope Cemetery, Tucson, AZ at a later date.
