

Harry “Sam” Hiner
Born Friday May 18, 1928 in Johnstown Pennsylvania he Passed Away Saturday December 15, 2012 in Sun Lakes, Arizona.
Sam Hiner Passed Away on December 15, 2012 at his home with his wife and children surrounding him with love and support. He transitioned into Heaven peacefully in his sleep to join his parents Francis and Ethel Hiner, his sister Lila Hiner-Boyer and brother-in-law Ralph Boyer, his son Brandon Hiner, his brother, Wayne Hiner, in-laws Carl and Helen Shaffer, and sister-in-law, Jean Radaker and her husband William Radaker. Sam is survived by his wife of 63 years, Ruth Hiner of Sun Lakes, Arizona, children, Marcy Hiner-Hill and son-in-law, Tony Hill of Deltona, Florida, Holly Hiner and Corydon Hiner of Sun Lakes, Arizona, six grandchildren; Carrie, Erin, Natalie, Nathan, Samantha and Felicia, and 9 great-grandchildren; Monica, Jesse, Gabriel, Alyssa, Bryce, Faith, Emily, Jaydin and Bobby, sisters-in-law Mary Bott, her husband Alan Bott and Doris Peterson, her husband AD “Pete” Peterson and several nieces and nephews. Sam was born and raised in Johnstown, Pennsylvania until the Johnstown flood of 1936 when his family relocated to DuBois, Pennsylvania. Sam went to school in DuBois and following graduation joined the Marine Corps and was stationed in Washington, DC. Sam was a Masonic Shriner out of Altoona, Pennsylvania. Sam loved to sing and was a performer in many musicals and choirs over the years. Sam retired from working a career at Anchor Hocking Glass Company in Lancaster, Ohio and Tampa, Florida and then moved to The Villages (Lady Lake) Florida where he and Ruth enjoyed many years of active adult retirement. Sam played golf, softball and sang in the church and Village Choirs during this time. In 2007 Sam and Ruth moved to Sun Lakes, Arizona to be closer to family. Sam suffered from Alzheimer’s Disease for many years but was able to stay at home with his wife, Ruth and his son Corydon was his full time caregiver for the last year of his life. Sam was a member of Risen Savior Lutheran Church. Sam will be laid to rest at Valley of the Sun Cemetery with his Son Brandon Hiner on December 27th, 2012 at 10:30am.
