He was born to Rosa Belle and Sherman L. Patterson Sr. on November 24, 1924 in East Stroudsburg, PA and raised in NY's Westhampton Beach.
After a life of service, both during World War II and a two decade career as a Probation Officer, Sherman spent his well-earned retirement golfing, becoming a fixture, friend and mentor at Chandler's San Marcos Golf Course. A lifelong athlete, with varsity letters in both high school (captaining the football, basketball, baseball and track teams his senior year) and college, golf was his true love, from his first job as a caddy to his role as elder statesman in the clubhouse. Sherman was pre-deceased by his sister Hazel, brother Traxler and wives Marian and Charlotte. He is survived by his brother, Rev. J. Russell Patterson and sons Aaron, Alan and Seth. A viewing will take place Sunday, March 9 from 2-4 PM and funeral services will commence at 2 PM on Monday March 10, both at Valley of the Sun Mortuary & Cemetery, located at 10940 E. Chandler Heights Rd., Chandler, Az. 85248, (480) 895-9232. To leave condolences visit, www.valleyofthesunfuneralhome.com
