Sylvia Ann Land

Sylvia, also known to loved ones as Wickie, was born on November 16, 1932 in San Antonio, TX to her parents Jesse B and Hilda Whitley. She was raised in San Antonio, TX and graduated from St. Gerard Catholic High School. She married Robert Land in 1951 and moved to Phoenix, Arizona in 1963 where they finished raising their four children. Sylvia worked for Motorola for 25 years and retired in 1988. Shortly after, she began spending her summers in Pinetop-Lakeside, AZ, where her children and grandchildren enjoyed visiting her. Sylvia liked to spend her free time playing card games, winning at Bingo, watching movies, going to the weekly comedy show at Hon-Dah Casino, eating Mexican food, and reading a good book.

Sylivia is preceded in death by her parents Jesse B and Hilda Whitley, husband, Robert Land, siblings Thomas (Bev) Whitley, Robert (Velma) Whitley, Patrick (Evelyn) Whitley and Angie Schutte, daughter, Kathy (Blake) Browning, grandson, Kelly Browning. She is survived by her children, Gary (Sherry) Land, Pamela (Tommy) Bates, and Michael (Jan) Land, grandchildren Erica (Thomas) Lango, Jeremy (Lindsay Dumanch) Land, Alyson (Brandon) Becken, Kory (Brittany) Bates, Aaron (Lauren) Land, Alyssa Land, 12 great-grandchildren, and siblings Leo (Marian) Whitley, Zachary (Patsy) Whitley, and Deborah Gousie.

Sylvia will be greatly missed by all who loved her.
