He was born in York County, PA on April 16, 1923 and received his Bachelors from Western Colorado University and his Masters from Cornell.
He was married to Margaret (passed) and Georgia (passed) in Colorado Springs, CO. Vernon had a career as a high school biology teacher for many years in Colorado Springs.
Vernon had a passion for bird watching (ornithology), pistol shooting and was a pistol shooting instructor at the Air Force Academy. He was a veteran of both World War II and the Korean War.
He is survived by his siblings Nancy I. Fake, Joan E. Fry, Brenda D. Keyser and Denise Caughhorn. Vernon had 14 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren.
