CHAPIN – A memorial service for Alan McPherson Broadwell, 56, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 4, 2017 at Chapin United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Francis of Assisi Episcopal Church in C/O The Allene Broadwell Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 265, Chapin, SC 29036.
Mr. Broadwell was born November 26, 1960 in Aiken, SC and passed away on Monday, May 1, 2017. He was a son of the late Robert McMillan and Allene Elizabeth Bland Broadwell. Mr. Broadwell was employed as Director of Operations for an online banking software company. Alan enjoyed volunteering for the Salkehatchie Summer Service. He loved scuba diving and playing his guitar. He was a wonderful husband and great, loving Dad to his four beautiful children.
Mr. Broadwell is survived by his wife, Melanie Broadwell of Chapin; children, Nancy Blythe, Lane Wagoner, Roy Robert, and Hoyt Alan; brother, Robert Broadwell; sister, Jane Broadwell; niece, Allene Elizabeth Russell; uncle, Robert P. Bland, Jr, MD; cousins, Robert Purdy Bland III, Myles Curtis Perrin Bland, and Kingsland Wadick Bland.
