

A member of St. Peter’s (Pineywoods) Lutheran Church for more than fifty years, he was born in Whitmire, SC on April 10, 1945 to Carroll Leon Frick, Sr. and Catherine B. Frick. He has lived most of his life in Chapin, SC.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia H. Frick; sons, Carroll L. Frick, III (Trey) and wife Jill, Vincent Edward Frick and Susan Cornett; grandchildren, Samuel (Emily), Meredith and Caroline Frick; his brothers, Gerald Frick (Nancy) and Roger Frick; sister, Michelle (Steve) Suber; nieces, Nicole (Aaron) Frick and Hillary (Jack) Berry; nephews, Jeremy (Rebecca) Frick, Dean and Mason Suber; along with numerous cousins and great nieces & nephews.
Carroll worked several years with his father and uncle building houses prior to going to work with Richland School District 1, retiring after 35 years.
He was a Cub and Boy Scout Leader at his church with multiple Scouts attaining the rank of Eagle Scout. The entire troop was recognized and awarded “The Heroism Award” on May 25, 1983 for their efforts in rescuing two students from Clemson University who fell 32’ over the falls at Stumphouse Tunnel Park. He was Treasurer of the Men’s Group of the church; member of Primetimers; church choir for over 50 years. He worked closely with the Band Booster Club at Chapin High School, serving as Vice-Chair. After retirement, he was a volunteer worker, then bus driver for Lowman Home for several years.
Carroll and his wife have Western Square Danced for 56 years, edited and published a monthly magazine, The Carolina Caller, for 55 years; were awarded the “Distinguished Service Award” and then inducted into the “SC Hall of Fame” by their Square & Round Dance Association. He was a member of several Western Square Dance Clubs; Kalico Kapers, Happy Hoppers and Western Squares. Chairman of the Youth Activities for a National Square Dance Convention in 1998 and Chairman of Publications & Showcase of Ideas in 2007.

Services will be held at St. Peter’s (Pinewoods) Lutheran Church, 900 Dreher Island Rd., Chapin on June 8th, 2025 at 3:00 PM, conducted by Pastor Jim Leheman. Burial will follow the service in the church cemetery, with a reception to follow in the church fellowship hall. The family will receive friends beginning at 2:00 PM prior to the service.
